Entering 2025 with a Dual Mindset

Happy New Year! We hope you had a joyful, restful, book-filled break!

We are back at our desks at Book Publicity School and Press Shop PR and looking ahead to the changes that 2025 will bring to the tricky art of book promotion. 

We’ll be facing new challenges, like the further fracturing of the attention economy, the shifting social media terrain, the increasing role of AI, and a renewed deluge of political news. 

There will also undoubtedly be developments that we can’t yet predict, and we plan to watch the information space closely and strategize, iterate, and be nimble in response. At Book Publicity School, we’ll share all the insights we glean from navigating through our book launch campaigns at Press Shop PR. 

With all that said, many principles of book promotion aren’t going to change: peoples’ love of stories, the need to present your book in a concise and compelling way, the research skills needed to find and contact people who speak to your book’s audience…

So, as literary publicists, we go into 2025 with a dual mindset. The world of publishing, the world of media, and the intersection of those two spaces—where book promotion lives—will continue to evolve, and quickly! At the same time, some fundamentals are essential and unchanging: smart messaging, targeted research, and building an impactful online platform.

Onward — to a year filled with books, big ideas, and a relentless optimism that doing the work will make good things happen.
