Book PR in Action: December 2024

Everything we teach at Book Publicity School stems directly from our decades of publicity experience at Press Shop PR, where we develop and execute over 30 book launch campaigns each year. Some recent highlights:

Historian Joe Trotter joined Pittsburgh's NPR affiliate, WESA, to discuss his groundbreaking book, Building the Black City (UC Press). The interview delves into how Black Americans built thriving “cities within cities” through resilience, ingenuity, and community—a must-listen for anyone interested in the history of urban America.

Historian Derek Black, whose forthcoming book Dangerous Learning: The South’s Long War on Black Literacy (Yale University Press), wrote a great op-ed in the Boston Globe about the Republican voters who rely on public schools, and the Republican politicians who harm them at every step.

Hyperallergic reviewed Kimberly Lau’s Specters of the Marvelous (Wayne State Press), highlighting how race and colonialism are deeply intertwined with the European fairy tale tradition. A must-read for those interested in the untold histories of folklore and its continued cultural impact."
